Description American Blast System’s Lightweight Level IIIA Shield measures 40″h x 20″w and weighs only 5 lbs … substantially lighter than other Level IIIA shields on the market! It’s made of advanced composite bullet resistant materials that meet NIJ Level IIIA standards, rated to protect against handgun calibers up to a .44 magnum, nearly all shotgun blasts, and lesser threats. Ballistic shields, also known as breacher shields, are most effectively deployed by law enforcement and security teams trained in proactively addressing active attacker threats, but can also be integrated into action plans for schools, businesses, and organizations without advanced training to provide a near full coverage option for those egressing to locations of safety. The backside of the shield includes a mounted handle for right or left-handed carry. A protective covering of Cordura or Line-X Polyurethane is available to cover the surface of the shield. Due to the custom nature of the shield products, fabrication may take an average of 4 -6 weeks.
